چکیده

There has been an increasing amount of work worldwide in search for tests not only to be able to absolutely diagnose acute pancreatitis, but more importantly to prognosticate patients at admission. While the tests are still within the realm of research laboratories and involve complex computing and analytical methods, we believed that the already widely practiced methods of scoring needed to be verified in the Indian context. And, hence, the study.

The comparison of apache ii scores with neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and red cell distribution width for the prediction of prognosis of patients with acute pancreatitis

Acute pancreatitis Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory process of pancreatic tissue, which can affect other distant organ systems. Its severity can range from mild inflammation to severe, progressive pancreatic necrosis, and it can lead to multiorgan failure that may have a mortality rate as high as 20% to 30% [1]. Several scoring systems have been proposed to determine its severity. Amo...

Comparison of BISAP, Ranson, MCTSI, and APACHE II in Predicting Severity and Prognoses of Hyperlipidemic Acute Pancreatitis in Chinese Patients

In recent years, with the developing of living standard, hyperlipidemia becomes the second major reason of acute pancreatitis. It is important to predict the severity and prognosis at early stage of hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis (HLAP). We compared the BISAP, Ranson, MCTSI, and APACHE II scoring system in predicting MSAP and SAP, local complications, and mortality of HLAP. A total of 326 di...

A comparison of the BISAP score and serum procalcitonin for predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis

BACKGROUND/AIMS The bedside index of severity in acute pancreatitis (BISAP) is a new, convenient, prognostic multifactorial scoring system. As more data are needed before clinical application, we compared BISAP, the serum procalcitonin (PCT), and other multifactorial scoring systems simultaneously. METHODS Fifty consecutive acute pancreatitis patients were enrolled prospectively. Blood sample...

Comparison Study of Apache-II Vs Ranson’s scoring And CT Severity Index for Its Outcome in Acute Pancreatitis

Acute pancreatitis is one of the common encountered disorders in common surgical practice. In recent times management has changed dramatically with majority of decisions like role of antibiotics, use of Ryle’s tube, nutrition etc. Ranson’s and APACHE II scoring systems are the two major scoring systems to predict the severity of disease, but the efficacy between the two scoring systems still re...

Simplified criteria for predicting the severity of gallstone pancreatitis

Background: There was a need for a simple method of predicting the severity of gallstone pancreatitis soon after admission, to guide the clinician for intensive monitoring, or for transfer to a specialist center. Aim: To validate the role of simplified criteria [white blood cell count (WBC) > 14.5 x 10/dl; blood urea nitrogen (BUN) > 12 mg/dl; random blood sugar (RBS) > 150 mg/dl; pulse > 100/m...
